I declared my candidacy for reelection quite early, back in February,
and fully expected that others would be joining the race and that
we would have a spirited campaign this fall. And a newcomer did
surface, cleverly using the fact that he wasn’t well known
to attract attention! So it was quite a surprise that when the filing
deadline arrived, not a single other person filed for mayor –
I am unopposed!
I consider that both good news and bad news. It is great to know
that I will be serving for another two years, but it also means
that there will not be a debate among candidates and the opportunities
for public input are not as great.
Because I do think getting community input through dialog is very
important to my ability to be an effective leader, I will continue
campaigning. It won’t be a full-blown effort, but I want to
take advantage of opportunities for presenting my positions and
getting feedback. Morgan Hill is a great community because we do
work together so well, we can’t lose that momentum.
I am proud of all that we’ve accomplished and we’ve
initiated many new projects in the last two years as well. So our
emphasis now is not on undertaking new things, it is more on finishing
what we’ve started.
With my leadership, we will complete our many ongoing efforts to
make Morgan Hill better. I invite you to explore my website to get
more familiar with me and with what has been accomplished and is
underway in our community. And I gladly welcome any input you wish
to provide!
Thanks!
